Our "Plier style" dog nail trimmers work similar to pruning shears. The two notched blades surround and cut through the nail as the handles are squeezed together. Some people like this style because they can see exactly where the blade will cut through the nail. These trimmers come with a ""safety stop"" that limits the amount of nail that can be cut at a time, a great feature for pet guardians who are just learning to trim nails or whose dogs have dark nails that hide the vein (or ""quick"") inside.
The nail trimmer for small to medium dogs works well for dogs up to around 40 pounds. The nail trimmer for medium to large dogs will work well for dogs over 30 pounds. These dog nail trimmers don't have blades that need to be replaced, but they do need to be sharpened when they become dull.
